Commitment to Accessibility

Christ’s School is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for everyone, whatever their needs or abilities. We aim to provide a website that is usable and accessible for people with disabilities, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance Status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA standard, due to some areas of non-compliance and the disproportionate burden described below.

How We Support Accessibility

You should be able to:

  • Change colours, contrast levels, and fonts with your web browser or assistive technology.

  • Zoom in up to 300% without text or functionality loss.

  • Navigate most of the website just using a keyboard.

  • Navigate most of the website using speech recognition software.

  • Listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including recent versions of JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver).

Technical Accessibility Features

Colour Contrast

  • The website is designed to use text and background colour combinations intended to meet minimum contrast ratios set out in the WCAG 2.2 guidelines. However, some older content and images may not fully comply.

Zoom

  • Content is responsive and can be magnified up to 300% using browser settings without loss of clarity or functionality.

Keyboard Navigation

  • Most interactive elements, such as navigation menus and links, can be accessed using only a keyboard (typically via the Tab, Shift-Tab, and Enter keys). However, some complex interactive features or embedded third-party content may occasionally not be fully accessible by keyboard alone.

Screen Reader Compatibility

  • The structure of the site generally uses proper HTML tags, including headings, lists, and ARIA attributes where applicable, to support navigation and understanding with screen readers.

  • Some documents or older pages may not have been fully updated to ensure ideal compatibility with all assistive technologies.

Known Limitations


We are aware that some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • Some images may lack appropriate alternative text.

  • Certain form fields or interactive elements may not have descriptive labels.

  • Some older PDF or document attachments are not fully accessible to screen readers.

  • A small number of dynamic or interactive modules may not be operable by keyboard or may lack visible focus indicators.

  • Some colour contrast issues may remain on legacy sections.

Disproportionate Burden

While we are committed to achieving full compliance, some major site-wide changes—such as overhaul of legacy content and/or a complete redesign to meet all the latest WCAG 2.2 requirements—would present a disproportionate burden at this time. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Retrofitting historical documents or large numbers of legacy pages for complete accessibility.

  • Redevelopment of embedded third-party applications that are not under our direct control.

We constantly review these issues and will address them as resources allow, prioritising where it will have the greatest impact for users.
